Description
A great range of birds may be seen between Loch Lomond and the summit of Beinn Vorlich. Common Kingfisher, Grey Heron, dabbling ducks and others on the loch may be seen from the viewing platform. The ascent passes through woodland with Goldcrest, woodpeckers, Common Crossbill, Eurasian Nuthatch, pine marten, red and grey squirrels and Eurasian Treecreeper. Above the treeline, Eurasian Skylark, Meadow Pipit, White-throated Dipper, European Golden Plover, Grey Wagtail, Common Sandpiper, Northern Wheatear, Red Grouse, Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, red deer, mountain hare and Black Grouse may be seen. The summit of Beinn Vorlich at 3,113ft/943 metres is likely to have Rock Ptarmigan, Golden Eagle, Common Raven, Dotterel and Snow Bunting.

From Glasgow drive north on the A82. Inveruglas is 4 miles beyond the A82/A83 junction. Nearest train station is at Arrochar. The ascent is 960 metres and return trip is 8miles/13 km. Be prepared - equip yourself with stout boots, waterproof clothing, map, compass, charged mobile phone, food, water, and details of the weather forecast.
