Description
When flooded in winter the Ashleworth Ham area attracts large flocks of Common Teal, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Common Pochard, plovers and other waders. Large flocks of Fieldfare and Redwing possible. Birds of prey follow the flocks. Sensitive breeding site for Common Snipe, Northern Lapwing, warblers, Western Yellow Wagtail and Reed Bunting, therefore no walking trail, but hide and viewing screen provide comprehensive overview. Floodwater can occasionally cover roads in the area completely, take care not to be cut off by rising waters.
