Description
Buckshaw Wood is an area of ancient woodland with diverse trees, birds and wildlife. The area has a big breeding colony of Rook in nesting season. Other birds you can observe include Long-tailed Tit, Eurasian Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, House Sparrow, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, House Martin, Lesser Whitethroat, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Treecreeper, Common Chiffchaff, Wren, Mistle Thrush and Song Thrush.

Buckshaw Wood is located in the middle of Buckshaw Village. Parking available in surrounding streets. Press P on the map for directions. Allow up to an hour or 90 minutes if birdwatching. There are well trodden, marked and signposted paths upon visiting. The area is poorly marked on online maps.
