Efford Marsh LNR is in the Eastern suburbs of Plymouth.
Efford Marsh LNR (not to be confused with River Avon and South Efford Marsh - see separate entry), is sandwiched between the A38 (The Parkway) close to the North and Efford housing estate to it's South and West. The reserve is one of Plymouth's largest consisting of woodland, grassland, wildflower meadows, streams, pools and marshland. The numerous pathways are sometimes steep and are frequently very muddy.
Both Hume's Warbler and Yellow-browed Warbler have been seen in the reserve in the recent past. Water Rail are regularly seen and heard, this site being one of the best sites in the city for this species.
Buses from Plymouth City centre stop in either Blandford Road (a short walk away) to the South, or very nearby in Deer Park Drive. Those arriving by car should park in Deer Park Drive on roadside (approximately 12 spaces), the entrance to the reserve is through a large grey metal archway signed Efford Marsh. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 1,8 mile.
PLEASE NOTE Efford Fort and Road (press STAR on map) is STRICTLY PRIVATE DO NOT TRESPASS.
