Description
Glasfynydd Forest has mostly moorland and woodland species eg European Stonechat, Red Grouse, Common Redstart, Common Snipe, Jack Snipe, Merlin, Eurasian Kestrel and Red Kite. In winter Great Grey Shrike, Common Crossbill, Eurasian Bullfinch, Eurasian Siskin and Lesser Redpoll. Few birds on the reservoir but Common Teal, Grey Heron and Goosander possible. White-throated Dipper and Grey Wagtail below the dam. For Eurasian Nightjar, look for a recently felled forest area with regrowth of bracken, bramble etc - only active after dark between May and August.

Access
From Swansea take A4067 Tawe valley road then left two miles beyond Danyrogof caves. From A40 Brecon/Llandovery road, turn south from Trecastle. Buses through Trecastle regularly. Train station at Llandovery. The circular walk around the reservoir is 8 km.
