Description
At Gunthorpe Gravel Pits 120+ species of bird have been seen, including Smew, Goosander and Red-breasted Merganser in winter, when Northern Lapwing, Northern Shoveler and teal can be numerous on flooded fields. Spring brings Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler to breed, and Black Tern, Northern Wheatear and Whinchat on migration. In summer, Eurasian Hobby hunt swallows over the ponds.
