Description
The area comprises of a large area of heathland with both deciduous and conifer woodland.
(*1), from around the car park area scan for overflying Common Buzzard, Eurasian Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Red Kite. During the Summer European Honey-buzzard are sometimes seen. More open areas have can have Stock Dove, Mistle Thrush, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Meadow Pipit, Eurasian Skylark and Wood Lark. Gorse (Ulex) patches have Dartford Warbler and European Stonechat.
(*2), Broadleaved woodland here hold Hawfinch, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Nuthatch, Eurasian Treecreeper. In Summer European Turtle Dove, Spotted Flycatcher, Common Redstart, Common Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Common Cuckoo can all be expected. Birch (Betula) trees can attract Whinchat, Wood Warbler, Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Linnet, Eurasian Bullfinch and Long-tailed Tit.
(*3), Court Copse area, scattered scrub here on the North edge of the copse, have 'roding' Eurasian Woodcock and 'churring" Eurasian Nightjar in the evenings. More open areas have Meadow Pipit and Eurasian Skylark, scattered trees can have Wood Lark and Tree Pipit.
Be sure to check any scrubland for Yellowhammer, European Stonechat, Linnet, Greater Whitethroat and Lesser Whitethroat. Conifers around the site can have Goldcrest, Firecrest, Coal Tit, Eurasian Siskin and the occasional Common Crossbill.

Leave the M27 motorway at junction 2, on roundabout take exit signed Salisbury/Romsey/Fawley/A36, at next roundabout take second exit signed Salisbury/Plaitford/Wellow/A36. Continue on this road turning Left at sign for Bradshaw, pass over cattle grid onto Black Hill Road. Continue on this road and large car park (free) is on the Left.
