Description
Around the Fish Quay in Hartlepool gulls hang around, especially on the roof. Often joined in winter by Iceland Gull and Glaucous Gull. In the harbour entrance Common Eider, Red-throated Diver, Great Northern Diver and Common Guillemot can often be seen. Sea watching by the lighthouse can produce a large variety of gulls, ducks, auks, terns, skua’s and shearwaters at various times of the year. The rocks along side the promenade are home to Purple Sandpiper, Eurasian Oystercatcher and Ruddy Turnstone that winter in Hartlepool bay.
