Description
Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Cetti's Warbler and Reed Bunting. Great Bittern is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Common Pochard, Common Teal and Gadwall. In 2001 Green Heron showed up here.

Access
Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
