Description
RSPB The Oa is home to many important breeding and wintering birds, including Red-billed Chough, Golden Eagle, Hen Harrier, Peregrine Falcon and occasionally Corn Crake. During the winter months the reserve is very important for wintering Greater White-fronted Goose and in particular, Twite. With The Oa reserve hosting likely the largest wintering flock in the UK. Golden Eagle is present throughout the year, soaring above the cliffs and moors.

By bus: The nearest bus stop is in Port Ellen. By road: Approximately 6 miles (9.6 km) south-west of Port Ellen, Isle of Islay. Car park is situated on unnamed road, on the way to the American Monument PA42 7AU, Isle of Islay. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 3 km.
