Description
Ruddon's Point is said to be the best place in Britain to view overwintering Common Scoter, Velvet Scoter and the rare Surf Scoter together. Also wintering here may be Common Eider, Common Goldeneye, Goosander, Red-necked Grebe, Slavonian Grebe, all 3 diver species, Purple Sandpiper and Red-breasted Merganser.
Eurasian Skylark, Rock Pipit, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Common Redshank, Common Ringed Plover and Linnet breed here, plus Common Crossbill, Eurasian Siskin and Goldcrest in the pines.
As with many east coast sites, rare migrants such as Barred Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler and Red-breasted Flycatcher may turn up in September.
