Description
Saltern Wetlands gets many more birds than it did before high tide bank was breached. You can observe flocks of Northern Lapwing, Eurasian Curlew, Common Teal, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit and Avocet. Winter guests include Spotted Redshank. Other birds that can be seen are Common Shelduck, Northern Shoveler, Common Ringed Plover and Eurasian Oystercatcher. Peregrine Falcon, Western Marsh Harrier and Common Buzzard hunt over the area at times. Two small freshwater ponds were created at the same time, between the railway line and the inland end of the tidal area, and have had Black-necked Grebe and Little Ringed Plover on them.
