Description
Tentsmuir Forest National Nature Reserve provides a variety of wildlife. The area has woods, mud and sand estuary, heath and sand dunes. Grey seals float effortlessly on their backs upriver on a rising tide, only their rounded noses showing above water. In September/October waders are varied (up to 13 species though not numerous). Long-tailed Duck, Greater Scaup, Common Eider, Common Goldeneye and Common Scoter offshore. Eurasian Woodcock, Goldcrest and Common Crossbill in the woods. European Stonechat, Whinchat, Northern Wheatear and Meadow Pipit on the dunes.
