Description
Birds that top the list in Thursden Valley are Red Grouse, Common Raven and the laughing Eurasian Green Woodpecker. One minute your on open barren moorland the next your in the woods. Among the other birds you can encounter are Eurasian Oystercatcher, Barn Owl, Eurasian Kestrel, Eurasian Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Goosander, European Stonechat, Common Chaffinch, Eurasian Curlew, Short-eared Owl and Little Owl.

Access
Thursden Valley is located northeast of Burnley. You can park near the Coldwell reservoirs. Click on the P in the map for directions, Or you can make the journey big and come from either Widdop or Hurstwood. Best to explore the area by foot. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 1,8 mile (3 km).
