Description
The Usk Valley Walk runs through the town, the river has flowering water crowfoot, Himalayan balsam, bats, Common Kingfisher, White-throated Dipper, Goosander, Little Grebe, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail, Reed Bunting, Great Cormorant, otters and more. The Rural Life Museum is excellent. Bats roost in the railway tunnel. At Llanbadoc church are a picnic site, play area, and plaque to Alfred Russell Wallace, discoverer of evolution.

Access
Usk is two miles west of the A449 Monmouth/Newport trunk road. Bus 36 from Monmouth or Newport stops at Usk and Llanbadoc. Pontypool train station is 9 miles away.
