Description
Valley Wetlands RSPB Reserve has Great Bittern that can be heard booming and occasionally flying over the reedbeds. There is a Sand Martin colony on the river Crigyll, plus Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, European Stonechat and Eurasian Skylark. In winter Northern Shoveler, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Teal and Northern Pintail. Best to visit before 8.30 am as the jets from the aerodrome are noisy later on. There are otters, dragonflies and pyramid orchids.

Valley Wetlands has a car park on site. The reserve is in the NW corner of Anglesey and accessible by bus or car, see link below. There is also a train station at Rhosneigr.
