Description
Situated on the crossroads of Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean, the Camargue represents an important stopover for the hundreds of thousands of migrating birds that pass through each year. It is also home to the only Greater Flamingo nesting site in France. With the aim of promoting and protecting its unique natural and cultural heritage, the Camargue was classifi ed as a Biophere Reserve by UNESCO in 1977. More than 400 different bird species have been observed here.
The Camargue consists of dozens of nice birding spots. On the map below you see the birdingplaces that are described in detail by birdwatchers on Birdingplaces.eu. Click on a red star to go to the description, map and birdlist of that specific area.
