Pouso Alegre has a number of waterholes where lots of birds come to drink and bath, as well as other places where you can encounter plenty of interesting bird species. This is a typical Pantanal area, so mostly dry for much of the year while soaked in the rainy season. Not a dense forest, but enough cover for shy species, as well, so it attracts all kinds of birds, as well as several mammals.
Waterholes are few and far between in the dry season, so these attract more than their fair share of birds. In only a few hours, you may be able to record 40 bird species or more. Birds you can observe include Hyacinth Macaw, Toco Toucan, Orange-backed Troupial, Yellow-chevroned Parakeet, Turquoise-fronted Parrot, Undulated Tinamou, Bare-faced Curassow and Chestnut-eared Aracari.

Pouso Alegre is located in Poconé, 133 km from Cuiabá, in the Northern Pantanal, which corresponds to the south of the state of Mato Grosso, in the Center-West region of Brazil. Departing from Cuiabá, it is 100 km of asphalt to Poconé and 33 km of dirt along the Transpantaneira Park Road, reaching the entrance of the farm. You will want to be on a safari jeep or on your own 4x4. The roads aren't overly difficult to drive, though, so even inexperienced drivers should do fine. Hiking may be difficult since the property is huge, and there can be some dangerous animals.
