Beskrivning
The beautiful, open, dry mountainous landscape around Agia Paraskevi has a high biodiversity. The sea is also nearby. In spring you can sometimes see grönsångare passing by. The villages are swarming with italiensk sparv and korp and örnvråk fly overhead. Sometimes you can spot a purpurhäger flying over. If you go higher up you can encounter gåsgam and lammgam. You can also see svarthakad sångare in the mountains. The sammetshätta can be heard singing almost everywhere. You also see Härfågel regularly.

Agia Paraskevi is located roughly in the center of the island of Crete, about 70 km southwest of Heraklion. The area is fairly remote and can be explored by car via the main roads, making stops along the way. Cycling is very difficult because there are many long, steep mountains. The road is almost always paved, but not all sections are in the best condition. You can park almost anywhere by car. If you want to see the most birds, go to both the sea and the mountains, but that will certainly take a whole day. The route indicated on the map is about 80 km.
