Kibbutz Kfar Ruppin is an agricultural community specialising in fish farming and irrigated crops. It is at the north end of the Jordan valley, a pinch point for migration between Africa and Europe. Thus up to 50,000 vit stork, 50,000 aftonfalk, 400,000 Bivråk, 140,000 mindre skrikörn, plus dvärgörn, Steppe Buzzard, ormörn, sporrvipa, mosnäppa, etc may pass through the area. The ponds attract herons, egrets, storks, pelicans, flamingos, kungsfiskare, gråfiskare and Smyrnakungsfiskare, brun kärrhök, dvärgrördrom, dvärgskarv, skedstork, enkelbeckasin and dvärgbeckasin. Drainage of the ponds causes a high concentration of birds.

Location is south east of Beit Shean, close to the Jordanian border. The area has an observation platform, and a birdwatching centre. In summer, avoid the midday heat (45 centigrade), and carry plenty of drinking water. The route on the map is about 6 km.
