Beskrivning
The Sabaki River Bridge is close to the point where Athi-Galana-Sabaki River, Kenya’s second longest, flows into the Indian Ocean. The River Sabaki estuary is about 2 km downstream, part of which is observable from the River Sabaki Bridge. The area has sandbanks, mudbanks, dunes, freshwater pools and marshes. The state and size of the estuary varies seasonally depending on river flows. Over 350 bird species have been recorded in the area with peak numbers often in April. Birds that can be observed include; pelicans, cormorants, herons, flamingos, ducks, geese, waders, gulls, and terns. One of the special birds that can be seen here between May and September is the migratory Madagascar Pratincole.

The Sabaki River Bridge is located 100 km north of Mombasa and 9 km north of Malindi. The bridge can be accessed via the B8 Malindi-Mombasa Road. You can view birds from the bridge or walk down and explore the banks on the south side of the river. But always be very careful as crocodiles and hippos live in the river.
