Ailsa Craig is located in the outer Firth of Clyde, 16 km west of mainland Scotland. The island is 340 m high, about 2.5 miles (4 kms) around the base and is made of very hard granite. It has a very large havssula colony, plus colonies of silltrut, havstrut, sillgrissla, tordmule, toppskarv, tretåig mås, tobisgrissla and a few lunnefågel. Offshore stormsvala, mindre lira and grålira. Also gulsparv and other small birds. Otters and seals.
