Resident and passage waders, especially at Haven and at Longhoughton Steel, 1.5 km north. Large ljungpipare flocks in winter, with records of amerikansk tundrapipare and sibirisk tundrapipare. Passage småspov and spovsnäppa. Winter skärsnäppa. The tidal foreshore is unusual in that there are sheltered areas of shallow water protected from waves by reefs at almost all states of the tide, making it an important feeding location for the småtärnas that breed at the nearby Long Nanny (q.v.) and other terns.
smålom and svartnäbbad islom, and occasionally storlom, can be seen offshore in winter, and vitnäbbad islom has been recorded.
Vagrant passerines on foreshore and at Seaton Point, 1.5 km south in 2020-22 included blåhake, härmsångare and ökenstenskvätta. snösparv regular in winter. törnskata and Varfågel have both occurred on passage.
