Mere Sands Wood is a Lancashire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for species like domherre, pilfink, större hackspett and sparvhök as they fly to and from their nests in the woodland. If you take a seat in one of the lakeside hides you may see skäggdopping performing their elaborate courtship ritual. kungsfiskare are present as well as wintering rördrom. The lakes and reedbeds also support vattenrall, Sävsparv, knipa, brunand and more.There are multiple hides, and it's easy walking.
