Beskrivning
Tucked away in Leicestershire, the Reedbed Nature Reserve at Watermead Country Park consists of four hides, one of which looks over the fabulous Wanlip Meadows. In winter, vattenrall and with a little bit of luck rördrom can be seen stalking in the extensive reedbeds there. Gråsiska, various Tits and grönsiska will visit the feeders from the Kingfisher Hide. kungsfiskare can also be viewed from most of the hides.
Spring announces the arrival of waders and the marshier area of the River Soar, viewed from the Plover Hide is great for enkelbeckasin and rödbena. Other waders such as kärrsnäppa, storspov and strandskata can also be seen around the reserve. fisktärna, backsvala, hussvala, ladusvala and tornseglare all fly around the reserve in spring and summer, with the backsvala nesting in the bank for them. Autumn is quite an interesting month for migration for more waders such as gluttsnäppa, skogssnäppa, drillsnäppa, skärfläcka and mindre strandpipare can be viewed from around the reserve.
