RSPB The Oa is home to many important breeding and wintering birds, including alpkråka, kungsörn, blå kärrhök, Pilgrimsfalk and occasionally kornknarr. During the winter months the reserve is very important for wintering bläsgås and in particular, vinterhämpling. With The Oa reserve hosting likely the largest wintering flock in the UK. kungsörn is present throughout the year, soaring above the cliffs and moors.
