Beskrivning
Walker Park is a largely open public park with mown grass, scattered trees, and a few shrub areas. It has a good network of surfaced paths suited to wheelchair users. The adjacent cemetery is wilder and provides more cover for birds. The site is of interest as the first place in Northumberland to be colonised by feral halsbandsparakit, and still remains the 'GHQ' for the regional population – an evening roost count of 220 was made in February 2025. Other birds are mainly common resident species, with few migrant species present, mainly wintering birds like rödvingetrast. It is under-watched, and could turn up an odd surprise.
