The raised boardwalk and lush grass droves allow easy access to a lost landscape of flowering meadows, sedge and reedbeds, where you can encounter rarities such as blå kärrhök, water voles and rördrom. Wicken Fen Vision, an ambitious landscape-scale conservation project, is opening up new areas of land to explore.

South of Wicken (A1123), 3 miles west of Soham (A142), 9 miles south of Ely, 17 miles north-east of Cambridge via A10. The site is open all year round from dawn to dusk except for Christmas Day. Some paths are closed in very wet weather, and some areas are inaccessible. However, there is a boardwalk, leading to two bird hides that is open all of the time. There are several bird hides and many miles of trails for visitors to follow. There is a visitor centre, shop and café. There a two separate circular walks you can do (3 km and 5 km). There's a river river between them that's only crossed at the reserve centre. The routes pass several bird hides.
